How It Works

The Booking Process

Commissioning calligraphy should be a pleasant experience, not a confusing one. Here is exactly what happens from your first message to the moment your piece arrives.

Reach Out With Your Idea

Start by contacting us through the contact page or by email at info@calligris.com. Tell us what you are looking for. You do not need to have everything figured out. A rough idea of what you want, the occasion, and when you need it is enough to begin.

We respond to every inquiry. If your project is something we cannot take on at the time, we will tell you honestly.

We Discuss the Details

After your initial message, we follow up with questions to understand your project fully. This might be a short email exchange or a phone call, depending on the complexity of what you need.

We will ask about the text you want written, the size and format, the style you are drawn to, and the occasion or purpose. If you have reference images or examples, sharing them is helpful but not required.

You Receive a Clear Quote

Based on the details discussed, we prepare a written quote covering the cost, the timeline, and the number of revision rounds included. Nothing is added later without discussion.

You can ask questions about the quote before agreeing to anything. We are happy to explain how costs are structured.

Deposit and Scheduling

Once you agree to the quote, a deposit is required to secure your slot in our schedule. The deposit amount is stated in your quote. Work begins only after the deposit is received.

We schedule commissions in the order they are confirmed. For time-sensitive projects like wedding invitations, we factor in your event date when planning the timeline.

Design Review

For most commissions, we create a digital layout or sketch before executing the final piece. You review this and provide feedback. This is the stage for adjustments to layout, style, wording, and composition.

We proceed to the final piece only when you are satisfied with the design direction.

Creation and Delivery

The piece is created by hand in our Dokki studio. For larger commissions, we share progress photos during creation. The finished work is photographed before packaging and dispatch.

Physical pieces are delivered across Egypt via courier. Delivery timelines are included in your quote. Digital files, where applicable, are sent by email upon completion.
